BERLIN (MNI) – The upheaval in Libya won’t threaten the oil supply
for Germany, and Berlin won’t need to tap into the national oil
reserves, an Economy Ministry spokeswoman said Monday.
“We do not depend on oil from Libya,” spokeswoman Sarah Schneid
said at a regular government press conference here. “There are no
bottlenecks expected [due to the upheaval], we can procure oil from
other countries,” she said.
“Thus, we won’t need to tap into our oil reserves,” Schneid
stressed.
Around 8% of oil used in Germany comes from Libya, the spokeswoman
explained.
