ATHENS (MNI) – Greece’s Finance Minister Giannis Stournaras said
Monday that he does not expect negotiations with Greece’s official
creditors to be concluded in time for the EU leaders’ summit in Brussels
on Thursday.

Speaking to journalists after meeting here with the so-called
Troika – officials from the European Commission, European Central Bank
and International Monetary Fund – Stournaras said he expected an
emergency Eurogroup meeting on Greece by the end of the month.

“It is difficult to reach an agreement by the EU Summit,” he said.
“Negotiations are progressing but there are a lot issues still open.
Structural and fiscal measures will be determined just before or just
after the Summit,” he added.

“There is still the issue of the debt sustainability and the
financing gap. All show that we are heading towards an emergency
Eurogroup” meeting, Stournaras said.
