A summary of other news from the past few hours:
- Ukraine’s acting foreign minister,Deshchytsia, says they will not give up on Crimea
Crimea is and will be Ukrainian territory and we will not give it up to anyone.
- also says Kiev doing all it can to resolve crisis in Crimea peacefully, urges Russia to help ensure international observers can operate in Crimea
- Russia’s Lavrov repeats that Ukraine should stick to the 21 Feb agreement signed by ousted president Yanukovich
- also says Russia remains ready for dialogue but accuses the interim Ukrainian govt of taking orders from radicals
The interim govt is not independent. It depends, unfortunately, on radical nationalists who carried out an armed coup,
- Pro-Russian soldiers apparently tried to seize another Ukrainian military base outside Sevastopol last night but no shots were fired and they pulled back.The unidentified forces used an army truck to ram the gates at the entry to the base. Two journalists were attacked and beaten during the standoff. BBC reporting.
