Reuters is quoting a German newspaper interview with German Chancellor Angela Merkel in which she says that the recent spat with Jean Claude Juncker, chairman of EU finance ministers, has now been put to rest. Merkel again reiterated that she was against the idea of issuing joint EU bonds but the language coming out of Germany regarding this issue has become less critical. This week’s summit may yet reach some positive conclusions.
EUR/USD is unmoved around 1.3230.
