News a while ago that US senator Roger Wicker has received a letter containing the lethal toxin Ricin (or perhaps some other substance) has been doing the rounds for a few hours now (BBC) – and while there hasn’t been a noticeably immediate impact on currency markets it does seem to have subdued risk somewhat.
EUR/USD is stable just below overnight highs, GBP/USD similar. USD/JPY, too is in a sideways pattern (bids reported 97.50, only a few points above there as I write).
There hasn’t been any connection established between the letter and yesterday’s Boston bomb attacks as of yet, but that is a key concern.
