Carolyn Wilkins will replace Tiff Maclem as the #2 at the Bank of Canada.
Ms. Wilkins, 50, joined the Bank of Canada in 2001 and is currently an adviser to Mr. Poloz. “Carolyn brings to this role a rich and varied background in monetary policy research, economic forecasting, financial markets and regulatory analysis, and truly exceptional leadership skills,” Mr. Poloz said in the statement.
She begins a 7-year term on May 2.
Bank of Canada deputies rarely make market-moving comments or even speak about forward-looking monetary policy.
