BOE governor Carney speaking to Bloomberg TV 29 June
- won't change the QE programme to exlude high-carbon industries from its bond-buying programme
Almost 50% of BOE corp bonds are from companies in carbon-intensive industries while clean energy companies don't appear at all.
Says Carney:
"We just mimic the gilt curve. When we buy corp bonds the only restriction that we have is that an issuer has to have material activity here in the UK."
As warned, a false alarm on mon pol. Not a shred or a hint even it would appear.
I've trod that path up to Bloomberg TV a few times in the past but I didn't get as much press as the Carnester. Funny that !
Some talk of Haldane giving an interview with The Guardian newspaper later today.
Meanwhile GBPUSD steady around 1.2962 after 1.2955 lows with EURGBP clinging to 0.8800.
