Coeure wants a discussion on sovereign QE next week, the comments helped send the euro a dozen pips lower.

The battle lines are clearly drawn in the ECB sovereign QE debate. Naturally, Weidmann is speaking out against but he has some allies, including Nowotny who said the ECB should be patient today.

Goldman Sachs was out earlier today saying it sees a better than 50/50 chance of sovereign QE in the first half of 2015.

The meeting is on Dec 4 and I think the trade will be to buy the euro ahead of the decision. Still see a concrete announcement as a longshot. Even the latest comments from Coeure say the ECB won’t rush to a decision.
