Euro sinks
The ECB said discussions on the matter will take place at the December meeting. The question here is the timeline. Is this about TLTROs expiring in 18 months or something they want to do sooner?
This isn't the first time this rumors has been floated. Two weeks ago, Bloomberg reported that banks had contacted the ECB about old TLTRO loans that will start maturing from 2020, a time when banks are worried about interest rates rising. Draghi also mentioned the topic last week.
EUR/USD is down to 1.1389 from 1.1408 before the headlines.
TLTROs are essentially long-term bank loans at very low rates. This is an indication that the ECB wants to help out banks. By the same token, it's an indication that banks need helping.
