The latest survey from Bloomberg (conducted January 9-14):

  • Twenty-six of 33 of economists forecast the Bank of Japan will expand monetary stimulus by the end of October
  • One less than in a survey last month
  • Nobody sees the central bank changing policy at the meeting on January 20-21
  • Fifteen of 31 economists say that falling oil prices mean that Japan’s core CPI could decline year-on-year in coming months
