Final interviews with four candidates took place on Friday
On the weekend we reported that four candidates were in the running to be named head of the Irish central bank and get a seat on the ECB's governing council, replacing Patrick Honohan.
Bloomberg reports that secretary general of the Department of Public Expenditure Robert Watt is one of the two candidates. He was considered the favourite.
Philip Lane, Mary O'Dea and an unnamed overseas candidate all had final interviews. The decision could come this week but may be delayed until after the Oct 13 budget.
Paddy Power has betting available and lists John McHale as the second candidate after Watt. But right now at 7/2, Watt seems like a good bet.
