Kathryn Dominguez has been nominated as the next Federal Reserve Governor

She's a public policy and economics professor at the University of Michigan and a research associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research

Her specific expertise is "in foreign exchange rate behavior, emerging markets and international borrowing", and will bring a strong global perspective to the Board.

In last week's testimony, Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen specifically mentioned the crisis in the Eurozone and the sharp fall in Chinese equity markets (both of which have diminished somewhat since) ... but also how the US dollar's strength was holding back exports.

Does the appointment of Dominguez, and her expertise in FX, clearly signal Fed concern on the gaining US dollar? What can we expect to see from her on this front?

Interesting times ....
