New president appointed at Dallas Fed ... you're gonna love where he used to work!

The Dallas Federal Reserve Bank has appointed a former vice chairman of Goldman Sachs Group Inc.

• Robert Steven Kaplan led investment banking activities at GS
• He takes charge as president and chief executive on September 8, replacing Richard Fisher (who retired in March).
• Kaplan was a vice chairman at GS until 2006. Was the firm's global co-head of the Investment Banking Division.
