Austria's National Bank Governor Ewald Nowotny spoke over the weekend with Austrian broadcaster ORF in an interview.

Sounded upbeat:

  • "We are in a really very good economic situation"

And thus would like to hurry with exit from extraordinary accommodative monetary policy

  • "I think the normalization should perhaps take place somewhat more quickly,"

He might not be in the majority on the Governing Council of the Bank though:

  • "I'm not entirely alone in my opinion but it is still an open discussion"
