RBNZ Governor Orr says events in Ukraine exacerbate upside inflation concerns

  • Reserve Bank of New Zealand Governor Orr not seeing events in Ukraine quite the same as some of the narratives out there.

Reserve Bank of New Zealand Governor Orr adds:

  • we are particularly concerned about inflation expectations
  • says the Bank is keeping the option of moving rates more quickly if that is needed

  • RBNZ Governor Orr - says capacity pressures in the economy are tightening still
  • NZD higher on the Reserve Bank of New Zealand's two notable hawkish surprises
  • NZD marked higher on the RBNZ policy decision and statement
  • NZD - RBNZ hikes cash rate by 25bps as expected
