Just following up with a little more on the earlier headlines re Japan's financial regulator has announced punishments for cryptocurrency exchanges

Japan FSA: 
  • issues business improvement order to Coincheck and six other exchanges
  • Suspends business at Bit station and FSHO for one month starting march 8
  • Coincheck lacks proper internal control system for risks such as money laundering and terrorism financing
  • says Coincheck will announce details of how to reimburse stolen NEM later today
  • Bit station and two other provisionally permitted exchanges have dropped application for authorised exchanges
  • have confirmed Coincheck's funding for reimbursement
  • supervisory policy remains unchanged to keep balance between consumer protection and promotion of innovation
