The last two Retail Sales reports out of the US have surprised to the downside and there is reason to believe that Thursday’s report for May will be even more of a wild card than normal. This is because Wal-Mart, by far the largest retailer in the US, has stopped providing monthly sales figures since April and will make economist’s already varied guesstimates even more of a crap-shoot.
