Oh, this post has some bad language in it – cant be avoided really, given the subject.

This is a bit weird.

The most respected German dictionary is adding some new words, and one of them is widely used by German Chancellor Angela Merkel, who ” thinks nothing of dropping the word into press conferences and round-table discussions”.

The Guardian first caught her using it in June 2012 during a discussion in Berlin with David Cameron, when she referred to having faced a “shitschturm” (her pronunciation) over her dealings with crisis-ridden southern Europe.

Given she is using the word in relation to Southern Europe, I can certainly see her point. And admire her restraint
