Around the markets

The Nikkei is closed today and most regional bourses are +0.5% on average, with the exception of HK which is over 1% lower. Gold is up 1% to $1653/oz, Silver is over 2% higher and Oil is trading at $83.50/bbl.

For the day ahead, some US markets will be closed as will all of Canada and there is only minor economic data due in the EZ. Most attention will be on statements regarding the European banking situation.
