Most of the main regional sharemarkets are just under 1% higher half-way through the trading session. Gold is steady close to record highs at $1310/oz and oil is trading at $76.50/bbl.

The FX market is very quiet but cable has managed to drift slowly higher amid rumours that a big buy order may hit the markets in early London. On quiet days like this, there is always some sort of rumour doing the rounds so I wouldn’t pay too much attention to it.
