Markets across the region are quiet with only marginal gains seen as the focus turns to the qudruple witching in the US tonight.

The Nikkei finished the morning session up 0.3% with good gains in Elipda Memory up 10% after its consideration to apply for public funds injection. Steel and shipping stocks were also doing well, with Mitsui OSK +3%, JFE Holdings +2.2%.

In Sydney, the ASX200 is up 0.2%, with RIO still trading lower after the rights issue but BHP up marginally, 0.5%. The banks were all slightly higher, CBA the best of the bunch up 0.9%.

Markets wer also watching how China shares would fare after the first public offering in one year. Guilin Sanjin Pharmaceutical said it would sell 46 million shares on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange.

The Kospi is up 0.18% and Taiwan up 0.2%
