The Baltic Exchanges main sea freight index BADI, which tracks rates to ship dry commodities, rose 4.24% Thursday, to a near 8 month high helped by China’s demand for goods.
The index, which gauges the cost of shipping resources including iron ore, cement, grain, coal and fertiliser, rose 134 points to 3,298 points, hitting its highest level since September 29, 2008.
