Barclays shares are up around 5%. The Financial Times reports that the bank, the UK’s third largest, apparently doesn’t need new capital.
The F.S.A is in the final stages of testing Barclay’s loan portfolio, and according to the paper is apparently set to conclude that the bank doesn’t need any new capital. The FT didn’t say where it got its information.
Cable is meanwhile off about 30 points on the day, presently down at 1.4410, with the USD posting some general, marginal, gains.
