Canada studying was to hit back

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says his government is studying whether to block US firms from shipping thermal coal from Canada in response to lumber duties.

Reuters is also reporting that Canada is considering targeting Oregon directly with duties on its exports like wine, flooring and plywood because Oregon Senator Ron Wyden played a key role in pressing for tariffs.

"Threats of retaliatory action are inappropriate and will not influence any final determinations," said US Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross in response.
