The main survey of Chicago-area manufacturing:
- Prior was 63.0
- New orders 61.7 vs 68.8
- Employment at 51.6 vs 60.9
- Prices paid 63.3 vs 63.7 prior
- Inventories at 43.9 vs 61.1
This number is worse than the headlines suggest. The drop in new orders is concerning and employment is at the lowest since April.
