China Beige Book International surveys Chinese business each quarter, using methodology adapted from the U.S. Federal Reserve's Beige Book
The Beige Book is only available to subscribers to their service, but Reuters have a summary piece of the latest:
- China's economic growth likely slipped in the third quarter
- Still in better shape than last year
- Profits at Chinese firms are higher
- Employment growth robust
- Commodities boom has begun to reverse
- "While growth eased almost across the board quarter-on-quarter, the economy boasts a number of success stories," CBB said in its report."The worry is not how the economy is faring now, but where it is headed. Beneath substantial accomplishments lies a potentially darker story for 2018."
- major risks include a continued over-reliance on cheap, easy credit and "old" growth drivers such as manufacturing and property
