Chinese premier Li Keqiang with some comments after his meeting with Theresa May on her visit to China
- Bilateral relationship will not change because of changes in Britain-EU relations
- Differences between China and Britain only happen from time to time
- China will open even wider to Britain, will expand openness to agricultural products
- China-Britain ties will go forward smoothly
Meanwhile, May is now out with her own comments:
- Committed to deepening vital partnership with China
- Pleased to agree to intensify relations with China
- New UK-China CEO council to bring together business
- North Korea regime must abandon 'illegal activity'
- New business deals with China worth £9 bn
- Welcomes opportunities provided by Belt and Road initiative
- Discussed the need to see G20 trading principles are adhered to
Sterling traders are a little more distracted by the Brexit news here - as May continues to try and form trade allegiances with other countries.
Surprising that there's already a figure pulled up on the business deals signed - and the fact that she's disclosing it. But, anything to show positive sentiment/strong facade, eh?
