China says it would be forced to retaliate to new US tariffs

Comments by China's ministry of commerce

• Says that they are "shocked" by US actions
• Says that the list put out by the US is "unacceptable"
• Reiterates that it would be forced to hit back against the list put out by the US
• Calls on other countries to uphold free trade rule

Strong language coming out of China, but the real deal will only come when we see the details or the list of countermeasures that they will be hitting back with. Other than that, words aren't really going to hurt market sentiment any more than what we've seen so far.

They also say that they will file an additional complaint against the US to the WTO. Not like that works but yeah, just in case any one is keeping score.
