China January trade balance data, in yuan terms:

Trade balance: CNY +406.2bn

  • expected +389.01bn, prior was 382.05bn

Exports: -6.6%

  • expected +3.6%, prior was +2.3%

Imports: -14.4%

Terrible details .... maybe that's why it was so late (normally out around 0200GMT) - collapse in exports and imports.

  • January crude oil imports 26.69 mln tonnes -4.6 pct y/y
  • January coal imports 15.32 mln tonnes -9.2 pct y/y
