We are having a bit of a quieter than normal Asian session ... even China's stock markets seem to be having a time out.
Singapore is on holiday today so that's making it a little subdued. And a note for the diary - Japan is on holiday on Monday.
Things to watch for today in Europe and the US:
- The German parliament (Bundestag) will debate the measures to begin negotiations on the third bailout package for Greece
- The EU-28 will meet later today for the same reason
- They are expected to confirm the EUR7bn bridge loan to Greece ahead of the EUR3.5bn repayment to the ECB on Monday
- US June housing starts later, expected is a bounce of 6.7% (fall of 11.1% drop in May)
- Also, June June CPI (headline expected lower to 0.3%m/m from 0.4%, while the the y/y is forecast to rise to 0.1% from the prior flat result
- Core is expected at a +0.2%m/m & +1.8%y/y
- Federal Reserve vice chair Fischer speaks (1400GMT)
