Raab on BBC 2 live talking about Brexit developments
- The light will shine back on the EU in Brexit talks
- Some behaviour at Salzburg was not very statesman like
- May treated badly at Salzburg ( we should send Farage next time, he would live it up)
- Raab answered a lot of EU questions
- Big question is, 'is the EU serious on the substance of the negotiation'
- Thinks set up as a dramatic rebuff (boy, it has gone badly)
- EU needs to meet us halfway
- EU is trying to leave us in some indefinite customs arrangements
- Europe making noises (describes as darker mutterings) that N.Ireland is price UK must pay for Brexit
- Raab says above point is not going to happen
- UK sticking to it's course
- EU is stonewalling the UK
- EU has tried to 'ambush' or 'trip up' Theresa May
Salzburg has clearly gone very badly. The critique is that Chequers was flawed from the outset. Hmm, no light here yet. Just a big fog of bureaucracy and stubbornness. Brexit is running out of options.
