FRANKFURT (MNI) – New European Central Bank Vice President Vitor
Constancio will be responsible for administration and financial
stability, the bank said in a press release Wednesday.

“In addition to his statutory duties as deputy to the President,
the Vice-President, Mr. Vitor Constancio, will be responsible for the
following areas: Administration and Financial Stability,” the ECB
announced.

This differs marginally from the roles taken on by previous vice
president Lucas Papademos, who was also responsible for research in
addition to administration and financial stability. Papademos’ last day
in office was Monday, and Constancio officially took up the post on
Tuesday.

Research is now headed by ECB Executive Board member Jose Manuel
Gonzalez Paramo, who is also in charge of Bank Notes and Market
Operations.
