What's coming up on the calendar front today
Happy New Year, everyone! I trust that you all had a good break over the weekend and yesterday. Markets are back but not exactly in full swing just yet. Liquidity may still be a little thin this week as some traders could take an extended break - and Japanese markets only reopens on Thursday.
Anyway, here's what in store for the European session later today:
0815 GMT - Spain Dec manufacturing PMI
0845 GMT - Italy Dec manufacturing PMI
0850 GMT - France Dec manufacturing PMI
0855 GMT - Germany Dec manufacturing PMI
0900 GMT - Eurozone Dec manufacturing PMI
A slew of PMI data, but the major ones (France, Germany, Eurozone) are not really too big a deal as they are final numbers. The flash/preliminary numbers were released earlier last month here: France, Germany, Eurozone. Not expected to be major market movers, as traders ease into the year - unless estimates were way off.
0930 GMT - UK Dec Markit manufacturing PMI
The biggest data point of the day, but shouldn't be too impactful on the GBP as well - since services play a much bigger role in the UK economy.
And that's about it in the European session. Do take note that we have the GDT dairy auction prices to be released later in the day as well - no exact time on this one - as Eamonn pointed out here.
I hope you all have a great day (and year) ahead, and as always good luck with your trading! Let's make 2018 an even better year, shall we?
