The dispute between the US and Turkey is beginning to escalate further
This is one to keep an eye on as it could have impact on risk and emerging market sentiment. Geopolitical tensions between the two countries is continuing to rise amid a refusal by the US to hand over to Turkey F-35 fighter jets which the latter has bought.
Erdogan has broken his silence on the matter saying that:
"If you have a customer and that customer is making payments like clockwork, how can you not give that customer their goods? The name of that would be robbery."
Should the US ultimately decide to remove Turkey from the F-35 programme and impose sanctions against Turkey, I reckon that'll be when markets will start to pay more attention to the dispute seen here; which came about as Turkey acquires Russian S-400 missiles, straining relations between the country and its NATO allies.
