BRUSSELS (MNI) – EU Commissioner for Economic and Monetary Affairs
Ollie Rehn on Monday expressed gratitude towards Germany for backing
efforts to restore fiscal credibility to Europe.
On his way into meetings here, Rehn told journalists: “I am very
grateful to Germany for its support for a strong and credible
enforcement mechanism.”
“If there is political will of the member states to go beyond” the
proposals of the Commission, he said, then “that is in the hands of the
member states.”
“I want to encourage both the Council and the Parliament to adopt
our proposals,” he added.
