European stocks end mostly down on the day

UK FTSE end up a touch

The European major stock indices are ending down on the day. The Euro Stoxx index fell by -1.16%. The Spanish Ibex was down 1.36%. The UK FTSE was the lone gainer rising by 0.16% on the day. The chart below shows the closing details for the day and the 5-day changes for the major indices.

Below is a look at the trends in select bond/note yields in Europe.

German and French bond yields continued to move lower. The yields in Italy and Spain moved higher on the day.

Although German yields are down on the day, the US yields have moved more to the downside. As a result the spread between comparable US and German bond/note yields have narrowed. This helps contribute to the EURUSD strength in trading today.
