Sluggish tones in early trades

• German DAX futures -0.1%
• French CAC 40 futures +0.1%
• UK FTSE futures +0.2%

The more or less unchanged mood reflects that of the way US equity futures are trading, with E-minis up by just 0.1% on the session so far. The sluggish tones highlight the fact that markets are still very much searching for fresh direction as we look to wrap up the week.

Of note, be wary of the release Chinese trade data for March later in the European morning. That could potentially shake things up a little. For now, yen pairs remain buoyed as the Nikkei ended the trading day higher but there isn't much reason for an upside break just yet. USD/JPY still holds at 111.78, a little higher on the day.
