Reuters reports, adding that preparations for the meeting are limited
Citing sources familiar with the matter, the report says that expectations for progress towards ending the trade war are low and that there has been little preparation for a meeting at the G20 summit later this month.
The report also notes that there has been a lack of preparatory work for the meeting due to increasing acrimony, with a senior Beijing-based Western diplomat labeling the atmosphere between the two countries as "poisonous".
I reckon there's reason to be hopeful that some form of face-to-face meeting will take place, be it in the form of an informal dinner/catch-up. However, don't expect that to change things between the US and China as this war of attrition still has a long way to go before it is close to being done playing out.
