Deflation is not a real risk for the US at the moment, Atlanta Fed’s Lockhart says, but the risk is being watched carefully, he says. Inflation is at an acceptable level but the Fed is watching for further disinflation, he added.
Today’s blip up in PPI will have dealers watching CPI with renewed interest tomorrow. Judging by the chart below, inflation does not look like a problem any time soon.
