Bloomberg carries this report on plans to make banks foreclosing on properties easier.
There is currently a 5-year ban on foreclosures (on properties whose owners owe less than €200,000), which expires in December.
Finance Minister Yannis Stournaras said last month that banks face serious problems if they’re not allowed to repossess and auction homes of people who don’t pay their mortgages.
More details at the link. Difficult to see how lifting the ban won’t result in more protest in Greece and more turmoil in parliament.
