Geithner: TARP extended to October

As expected, Geithner has extended the TARP program until next October. They will deploy $550 bln of the $700 bln and will use the balance and repayments to reduce debt “over time”. The Treasury expects it will not recover $42 bln of the $364 bln of TARP funds dispersed this year.
