BERLIN (MNI) – G7 finance ministers and central bank governors will
remain in contact over supporting Japan in dealing with the economic
fallout from the catastrophe in the country, a German Finance Ministry
spokesman said Friday.
The top G7 financial policy-makers agreed in a telephone conference
on Thursday to join with Japan in concerted intervention in exchange
markets which took place on Friday.
“Naturally the G7 dialog…on this matter won’t be finished with
yesterday’s talks,” ministry spokesman Martin Kreienbaum said at a
regular government press conference here. “The talks in this body will
surely continue.”
A government spokesman said at the same press conference that the
EU summit of heads of states and governments next week in Brussels would
likely come to an agreement on a comprehensive package to solve the
sovereign debt crisis in the Eurozone.
