BERLIN (MNI) – German Chancellor Angela Merkel, French President
Nicolas Sarkozy and Russian President Dmitry Medvedev will talk about
currency issues at their upcoming meeting in the French seaside resort
Deauville next Monday, a German government spokesman said Friday.

“You can assume that this will be a topic,” German government
spokesman Steffen Seibert said at a regular press conference here.

“I’m relatively sure that President Sarkozy will address what he
believes are the key topics of the French G8 and G20 presidency next
year,” the spokesman continued. “And he has made clear over the past
weeks that the international currency system is such a topic.” Another
key topic will be commodities, Seibert added.

He also reminded that Sarkozy had announced his intention to
closely involve Germany and Russia in the French G8 and G20 presidency.
