–Govt Aims To Lower 2011 Borrow To Under E50 Bln
BERLIN (MNI) – German federal net new borrowing this year will
amount to some E50 billion, the weekly Der Spiegel reported over the
weekend, citing internal calculations of the Finance Ministry.
Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble last month predicted that
federal net new borrowing this year will likely amount to “somewhere
between below E60 billion and E50 billion.”
Parliamentarians aim to reduce federal net new borrowing in the
2011 budget to below E50 billion from the currently foreseen E57.5
billion, Der Spiegel said, citing members from Chancellor Angela
Merkel’s CDU/CSU-FDP coalition.
