Reuters report a Greek lawmaker taking a hard line on negotiations
The news that Greece might withhold payment to the IMF 5th June sent the euro down to the lows at 1.1062 early in European trading. Reuters report that a Greek lawmaker said on Greek TV that there will be no payment unless a deal with creditors is agreed
Parliamentary speaker Nikos Filis said;
"Now is the moment that negotiations are coming to a head. Now is the moment of truth, on June 5. If there is no deal by then that will address the current funding problem, they won't get any money,"
The payment is for €312m with a further total of €955m due at weekly intervals through the rest of June (full Greek cash payment timeline here)
How much of a threat this is remains to be seen but with many in the market worried about where Greece will get the money from it could be a case that they don't have it anyway
