US-China trade negotiations isn't the only talk of the town

Abe Trump

This is mainly weekend news - for those who are still catching up - as Trump noted that it is possible for the US and Japan to reach a new bilateral trade deal by the time he visits Tokyo next month. But of course, if you missed out the earlier headlines this morning, there are still notable differences that couldn't be bridged in Trump's latest meeting with Abe and the FT reports that this rules out a deal in the next month.

I reckon it'll be just as tough as US-China talks as Japan won't willingly budge especially on the issue of the exchange rate, so expect many more months of back and forth before we get to see anything substantial here.

Hmm... Weren't we supposed to already see the US-China trade deal signed off by now? That should give you an idea of how talks here will develop as well.
