According to a report by the Financial Times
- Need to get into the nuts and bolts of how this backstop can work and how the concerns that people have can be accommodated
- Current understanding is that there hasn't been written proposals coming from the UK side with regards to checks on the Irish border
The report is citing Irish foreign minister Simon Coveney who also spoke earlier in the day here. There's nothing much to this but as I've said earlier the issue of the Irish backstop/border remains an impasse in negotiations and this suggests that there still isn't any viable progress on the matter as both sides are unwilling to offer any concessions.
