Italy's Conte says progress has been made in talks over deficit target

Comments by Italian premier Conte following the morning budget discussion

On the face of it, that sounds like good news but with all things political the lack of details is more telling.

Conte also says that he is seeking the coalition government's agreement of the economic and financial targets for 2019-2021 by tomorrow morning. The top-level discussion on the budget and economic targets will continue again later in the afternoon.
