JAPAN DATA: Auto industry vehicle output in December fell 5.1% from
a year earlier to 747,947 units, the third straight monthly fall, data
from the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association showed today. In
2010, vehicle output rose 21.3% to 9.63 million units, the first rise in
three years, as new vehicle sales rose 10.6% to 3.23 million last year,
the first rise in seven years thanks to government subsidies on
purchases of environmwent-friendly cars.
