TOKYO (MNI) – The Japanese government said on Wednesday that it has
postponed until further notice its monthly meeting of economic ministers
and the release of its monthly economic report for March, originally
scheduled for Friday.
The government and Tokyo Electric Power Co, the operator of the
quake-hit Fukushima nuclear power plant, are trying to contain Japan’s
worst-ever radiation crisis.
A combined task force of government officials and TEPCO is
considering options as smoke or steam is seen rising from the Fukushima
Daiichi nuclear power plant and temperatures rise in the two reactors
that have so far been unaffected.
